George Mikan was one of the most dominant basketball players of all time. He was a 6'10" center who played for the Minneapolis Lakers in the 1940s and 1950s. Mikan led the Lakers to five NBA championships and was named the league's MVP three times.

Mikan was born in Joliet, Illinois, in 1924. He was a star basketball player at DePaul University, where he led the Blue Demons to the 1945 NIT championship. After college, Mikan played for the Chicago American Gears in the National Basketball League (NBL).
